Pros - Unlike rubber, PVC Rings are much more durable will not harden and crack and cause leaks - Bearing are covered and will not rust / leak. Cons - Rubber ring will harden after approximately 1 year of use and will start cracking and leaking - Bearing are exposed and will rust / leak.

As we all know, wind turbines are designed to operate in a loaded situation so it can generate power to either the battery / the grid. It is, however, not designed to operate under a no load (open circuit) situation because doing so will put a lot of strain on the wind turbine components and speeds out the wear out process which will eventually will lead the turbine to self destruct. Therefore, a dump load is required to burn out the extra energy when the battery is full OR when the grid is out. Because of this, a dump load is also known as a "diversion load".
